Chew Jetty

Chew Jetty
Georgetown, 10300 Pulau Pinang, Malaysia

Chew Jetty is located in the old town of Georgetown. This village is rich in history, and this area used to be a place of escape or refuge for Chinese people during the war in the 18th century.
Clan Jetties is home to nine ethnic Chinese pioneer clans who stopped in Penang. The nine clans are Ong, Chew, Lim, Lee, Tan, New Jetty, Peng Aun, Yeoh, and Koay.
One of the Clan Jetties that has opened itself as a tourist destination in Pangkalan Weld is Chew Jetty. Chew Jetty Village was finally named by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 2008.

Most of the houses at Chew Jetty Penang are made of wooden planks, similar to floating houses and are quite solid. Here you can walk around looking at the residents' houses and relax while taking selfies on the pier in the afternoon. Facing the sea, you can see the bridge that connects 2 cities in Penang.

How to get there:
Chew Jetty Penang is closer to Lebuh Chulia, Lebuh Armenian and its surroundings and then crosses to the village. If you stay in Georgetown, you can go to Penang Island using the Rapid Penang bus and stop at Sungai Nibong. After that, change to transportation using a ferry across the island with a travel time of around 25 minutes.
Meanwhile, from Georgetown city center you can also go to the Penang Heritage Trail area with a distance of approximately 2 km. To get here faster, you can use the GrabCar service at a cheaper rate.
