Masjid Terapung & Batu Ferringhi Beach

Masjid Terapung
Jalan Batu Ferringhi, Tanjung Bungah, 11200 Tanjung Bungah, Pulau Pinang, Malaysia

It's called the "Floating Mosque" but it doesn't actually float on water. This mosque appears to float on the beach supported by concrete pillars above the sea. The location is on a cape (a sea basin that juts inward). Its name is Tanjung Bungah. The 1,295 square meter building is a renovation of a building that was previously damaged by the 2004 tsunami.

This Moorish architectural building is unique in its tower which is 7 stories high. This tower functions as a place for the call to prayer. This mosque can accommodate 1500 worshipers. At each of the four corners of the mosque there is a gazebo which can be used as a place to enjoy the beauty of the Malacca Strait. We can see fishing activities.

Opposite the mosque, we can see the Mar Vista condominium. Land in Penang is very limited. Land prices are very high. That's why there are many apartments, ranging from simple to luxurious.

How To Get There:
The Masjid Terapung Tanjung Bungah is easily accessible from the Tanjung Bungah main road. It is located on the opposite side of the road from the Mar Vista Condominiums. Rapid Penang buses 101, 103 and 104 goes to Tanjung Bungah (Bus 104 may require some walking, as it goes to Tanjung Bungah village).

Oh yes we stop by Batu Ferringhi Beach

Batu Ferringhi Beach is a popular beach on Pulau Pinang. The atmosphere is quite beautiful and calm, there are also many water activities that can be done, lots of tourist visitors here. The location of mosque is between Penang and Batu Ferringhi. From Komtar you can take a bus to Batu Ferringhi and stop right in front of this floating mosque.
