Binondo Chinatown is located in Binondo, a district in the capital of the Philippines, Manila. This location was founded in the 1590s by Spain as a Catholic Chinese settlement. The location is across the Pasig River, which is the former headquarters of Spanish Intramuros.


The best place to visit in Binondo is Carvajal Street, otherwise known as Umbrella Alley which offers a variety of the best street food.


You should also visit other places of worship, such as the Minor Basilica and the National Shrine of San Lorenzo Ruiz, which were built in 1596 when the Philippines was still under Spanish rule.
The basilica is dedicated to the first martyr in the Philippines, Lorenzo Ruiz, who died during the spread of the gospel in Japan. Apart from various shopping centers, in Binondo there is also the Chinatown Museum which will take you on a trip to the past and witness the rich past of this district. At the museum, visitors will also learn how China Town began and its role in Philippine history.
