Kebun Raya Bogor

To spend my last time during my visiting to Bogor, I went to Kebun Raya Bogor just for sight seeing.

Kebun Raya Bogor
Jalan Ir. H. Juanda,
Bogor, Indonesia

The Gardens are located in the city center and adjoin the presidential palace complex of Istana Bogor
Since its foundation Bogor Botanical garden have served the country as a major research center for agriculture and horticulture, a legacy that lived on until today. Founded in 1817 by the order of the government of Dutch East Indies, the Garden thrived under leadership of many renowned Botanist.
It is the oldest Botanical garden establishment in Southeast Asia.

Many garden theme showed up in this garden.
Here I go:

1. Orchids House
Bogor Botanic Garden's fascinating collection of orchids focuses primarily on wild species, numbering approximately 500 species from over 100 genera. Grammatophyllum speciosum, the largest orchid species in the world is also part of the collection. The specimens seen in the Garden's collections are either the original specimens gathered from the forest, or progeny of those specimens which have been propagated. Although the orchid collection at the Bogor Botanic Garden began during the Dutch era, it wasn't until 1927 that the collection was moved into greenhouses. Beginning in 1994, the Bogor, Bali and Cibodas Gardens renovated their orchid houses.
The Botanic Garden Orchid section are divided into:
Glasshouses - separated among hybrid and non-hybrid orchid species.
Orchidarium - area for breeding orchids.

2. Water Garden
Part of the garden is exclusively made for water and swamp plants, providing perfect habitat for water lilies, fish and birds living in the park. There is also an observatory deck overlooking the water garden.

Well, I must go home now.
See you again Bogor, let's go back to Jakarta.
