Arashiyama Bamboo Forest is a tourist destination that is always in demand by local Japanese and foreign tourists. This vast bamboo forest is located at the foot of a mountain famous for its stormy winds north of Kyoto city, perfect for relaxing in nature with the cool and fresh air.



Arashiyama Bamboo Forest's main street and Togetsu-kyo Bridge are called a tourist circus. Visitors can walk along the road which is filled with endless rows of towering bamboo with the distinctive sound of bamboo being blown by the wind. The sound of rustling bamboo in the forest was named one of the "100 Soundscapes of Japan" by the Japanese Ministry of the Environment.



 Therefore, during the day on weekends and holidays are busy times for visitors. At times like this, patience is needed to queue at each destination location. If you want to avoid crowds, it's best to come on a weekday or in the morning.
You can strolling around the neighborhood and find some foods.




How to get there:
Arashiyama is about 9 km from the center of Kyoto to the North West, and you can get there easily by train. To travel from JR Kyoto Station to Arashiyama, you can take the Sanin Honsen (Sagano Line) towards Kameoka or Sonobe and get off at Sagano Arashiyama Station.
