NARA DEER PARK

Nara Park is the oldest park in Japan because its existence coincided with the formation of Nara City, which around 710 – 784 became the capital of the Japanese Empire, which was then known as the Nara period. In this city there are several sites in the form of temple ruins which form the "Historic Monuments of Ancient Nara" and have been designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
The city of Nara is synonymous with deer. While at Nara Station, Friends of Silir were greeted by a statue of Dewa Takemikazuchi no Mikoto with deer antlers. In this city you can also find many statues and pictures of deer. Likewise, when you arrive at Nara Park, more than 1,200 deer will welcome visitors.

The dominance of deer in this city cannot be separated from the legends and history that have developed. It is said that once one of the four gods from the Kasuga Taisha shrine appeared on Mount Mikasa riding a white deer. Since then, deer have been considered sacred and no resident dared to hurt or kill the deer. They even looked after and fed the deer as a form of respect for the gods.
There are so many deer in Nara Park, that tourists who enter will immediately be greeted by deer. They roam every corner of the garden without being afraid of human presence.

These wild deer are tame even though they have never been trained. It's just that visitors also have to be careful and not disturb. If visitors show a friendly attitude, the deer will allow themselves to be stroked and invited to take photos together.

Near Nara Park there is a famous mochi called Mochi Yomogi.
Mochi yomogi is a typical menu from Nakatanidou. Yomogi is a wild Japanese plant which is also known by its new Chinese name, this plant is what gives the mochi its natural green color and refreshing taste. Mochitsuki is done every half hour, or when the shopkeeper sees that many people are starting to gather.

This interesting mochitsuki action is not just for show. This vigorous pounding produces soft and chewy yomogi mochi, which is dusted with kinako (roasted soybean flour) before being served to customers. Inside each mochi there is a lot of red bean paste as the filling.

How to get there:
The fastest way to get to Nara is the 35-minute limited rapid express from Osaka-Namba to Kintetsu Nara Station. This will cost 520 yen more than the regular express trains that take 5 minutes longer.
