Rainbow Village is a housing complex that is painted in colorful colors and is filled with various kinds of paintings.There are about 11 houses in Rainbow Village, all of which were painted by a veteran named Huang Yung-fu.



Huang lives in the Taichung area, Taiwan with hundreds of other army veterans. However, due to regional development, his neighborhood began to be evicted and only a few houses remained.
He started to feel lonely so he started drawing the area of ​​his house.
However, without realizing it, he also drew around his house and over time the area was filled with pictures of his work.



Initially, he only drew paintings of small birds in his house, then continued to several images such as cats, humans, planes and various other shapes.
He continued to draw as a form of resistance so that the government would not demolish his residence.



This area became famous and was called Rainbow Village. The 96 year old man is now known as 'Rainbow Grandpa' by the public and netizens. This place has now become one of the must-visit tourist destinations in Taiwan. Various local and foreign tourists come to visit there to take photos there or meet the 'Rainbow Granpa'.


Apart from seeing the houses from the outside, you can also go inside them.
Some are closed, but you can see the inside of the house through a window.
Apart from touring the village, enjoying the lush yard with trees, photo hunting and souvenir shopping are some of the things you can do here.

How to get to there:
From TRA Taichung Station, take Bus 27 or 89 to Ling Tung University. The fare is NT$ 12.
Alight at the Ling Tung University bus stop. From the bus stop, you can reach the Rainbow Village in about 10 minutes on foot.
