TAIPEI GRAND MOSQUE

Taipei Grand Mosque
No. 62號, Section 2, Xinsheng S Rd, Da’an District, Taipei City, Taiwan 10650

Taipei Grand Mosque, is the oldest and largest mosque in Taiwan which was built in 1960 by a Taiwanese architect named Yang Zhuocheng. Yang Zhuocheng is known for his architectural works such as the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, Taipei's National Theater and National Concert Hall, and the Cihu Mausoleum.

The Taipei Grand Mosque has an architectural style typical of Ottoman Empire buildings. The building also combines geometric elements and flowers that decorate the surroundings. The architectural style typical of Ottoman Sultanate buildings was then combined with the style of Persian architects.

The main room is covered with Persian wool carpets and chandeliers were gifts from the King of Arabia. On the outside there are two speaker towers 20 meters high, with a very majestic building. For more than 40 years, Kings, Presidents and leaders of Islamic countries from all over the world when visiting Taiwan, on average, will visit this mosque as one of their visits.

Currently, the mosque not only functions as a place of worship but is also used as a cultural heritage site. Around Mosque there are some tenants that sell halal food. I try Royal Indonesian Food that located just 100 m from mosque. Surprisingly the seller was from Indonesia and I feel comfortable and enjoy to eat foods there. I ordered soto as the weather is very cold haha!
