Belitung, Bukit Berahu, Danau Kaolin, Traditional House

Hello again readers!
Today, I wanna tell you about my journey to Belitung Island (in English is called by Biliton Island).
Me and my office mates came to Belitung island by joined a tour travel.
Ok, it's not cheap, but some people said that, Belitung has no public transportation.
So, it's hard to get to your destination without any guidance and transport.

Belitung (or in English, Billiton) itself is an island on the east coast of Sumatra, Indonesia in the Java Sea. The island is known for its pepper and for its tin.

Welcome to Belitung Island!
Our first stop was Bukit Berahu.

View from the restaurant is lovely and staff helped us with whatever we needed - usually condiments or cutlery with which to enjoy the beach cooking we love to do when we come here.

Because we are hungry, we also want to try the local food.
Our guide tell us to try "Mie Belitung Atep".
Mie belitung is one of a noodle kind.
It served with a good sweet salty sauce and topped with cucumber, emping and tofu.

Next stop was Danau Kaolin.
Clay (kaolin) is one of natural resources from under ground of Belitung island. This mining have created many job opportunities for people of Belitung. All of kaolin mine products are shipped to outside Belitung for raw materials of paint and cosmetics factory. But, the negative impacts from this mining as you can see, is environment damage, same as tin mining activity. The damage is becoming worst since this mining also contaminates several big river in Belitung.

Last stop of our journey is Belitung Traditional House.

Tomorrow we will go to the beaches.
So prepared yourself then!
Ciao!
