Pulau Peucang, Pulau Handeleum, Ujung Kulon.
This journey was started from my sister's story.
She has visited Pulau Peucang, Pulau Handeleum and Ujung Kulon before.
I was a little bit curious with this place.
So, I planned trip to there by searching it on website Indonesian backpacker.
All agreed, and we went there then.
Our meeting point is about 21.00 PM at Plaza Semanggi.
Then, we took a bus to the harbor near Anyer.
It took about 6 hours to go there.
It takes about 3-4 hours of sailing.
But it is worthed, if you see the view.
My first stop was Pulau Peucang.
Peucang island is located in the area Pandeglang district, Banten province,
Indonesia, and is part of the Ujung Kulon National Park which has been
named as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1991. With an area of 450
hectares, soft white shores and turquoise-colored water can be a place
to relieve your fatigue, a true Untouched Natural Heaven.
It is possible to
explore the entire island's 3 hectares by trekking through wild nature.
Trekking takes explorers to the island along the shore where they can
enjoy and appreciate the beautiful beaches of white sand and crystal
clear waters set against the Indian Ocean as backdrop. The abundant
white sand here also happens to be a natural habitat for spawning
turtles.
The tropical rain forest is slightly cooler and offers a wonderful
respite from the sun and beach. Inside the forest are various plants and
large-diameter trees requiring 3 to 4 adults to encircle their trunks.
Hike towards the Citerjun waterfall offers visitors a swimming
opportunity in crystal clear waters near the waterfall. Along the way,
visitors are treated to fascinating glimpses of wild animals like deer,
mouse deer, Javanese bulls, Javanese civets, green peacocks, hornbills,
black monkeys, squirrels, wild boars and large lizards. Javanese
Rhinoceros, fortunately, do not live here though.
Next stop, we explore Karang Copong.
Karang Copong, north
of Pulau Peucang is a big dead coral reef with a hole. The location
offers travelers another opportunity to swim, dive or snorkel to the
spectacular site of various underwater species including colorful small
fishes like angelfish, surgeonfish, clownfish, batfish, butterfly fish
and lionfish. With some luck divers here may be approached by groups of
turtles.
Afternoon comes, we go to the next island, called Pulau Handeleum.
We stayed one night there.
Wow, and the sun goes down!
It's a beautiful sky that I've ever seen.
Next morning, our activity is explore the river by canoe-ing
It feels like you entered the amazone river...Hahahah!
However you get
here, don't forget to bring along sneakers for trekking, and swimwear,
sunglasses, sunblock, mosquito repellant and a hat or cap.
Challenging
yet fun adventure waits you in Pulau Peucang.
See your story there!
