Trevi Fountain
Piazza di Trevi, 00187 Roma RM, Italia

The Trevi Fountain was built in 1732 by Nicola Salvi, a famous Italian architect. However, Salvi died before completing this project, so it was taken over by Giuseppe Pannini in 1762. This fountain stands 26.3 m high with a width of 49.15 m, and is the largest Baroque-style fountain in Rome. As well as being the most famous fountain in the world.

This fountain pool has existed since the 19th century BC. It is said that at that time the Roman soldiers who were thirsty were taken by a young woman to get water at a pure water source located 13 km away from the center of Rome. The pool was named "Aqua Virgo" or "Virgin Water" in honor of the young girl's services. This water source also supported the lives of the citizens of the ancient Roman city for more than four hundred years.

This pool is famous for its coin toss myth. It is said that if we throw a coin in the Trevi with our right hand over our left shoulder, our dreams will come true. Apart from that, if you toss two coins you will soon find your soul mate and if you toss three coins it means you will soon walk down the aisle. This is the reason why tourists flock to visit Trevi. It's no joke that so many people throw coins and make wishes in the Trevi pool, the coins they get can earn around 15 thousand dollars per week.

Where will the coins go? It turns out that every day the Roman Catholic Charities will sweep up the coins that have settled at the bottom of the pool. It takes an hour to collect it. Once collected, the coins will later be donated to poor people in need. This natural institution also opened a cheap market in 2008 with funds from collecting coins from the Trevi Fountain.

Around Trevi Fountain, you can see many shops that sell souvenirs, and Italian restaurants.
