The design of this mosque is very unique because it combines Mughal architecture with Italian nuances. The figure behind the building designer is Booty and Edwards Chartered who collaborated with Cavaliere Rudolfo Nolli, an architect from Italy.

The characteristic of the Sultan Omar Ali Mosque is that it uses a dome covered with pure gold. In fact, almost all building materials are imported from abroad. For example, marble from Italy, crystal chandeliers from England, granite from Shanghai China, and carpets from Saudi Arabia.
