SHIFEN OLD STREET

Shifen Old Street
226, Taiwan, New Taipei City, Pingxi District, 乾坑10號

Shifen Old Street is the busiest and busiest old area visited by tourists, as well as the main location of the Pingxi Lantern Festival. As a route that is also taken to get to Shifen Waterfall, many visitors spend time on this Pingxi tourist attraction.
One famous attraction here is flying lantern. You can buy lantern in mix colour (each color has it's own meaning) and write your wish there. After that you can fly it, so your wish will come true.

There also some food street that you can try. I try peanut ice cream roll and chucken rice.

Apart from typical food, other snacks such as dumplings, fried chicken, coffee and various other snacks make tourists want to linger in this tourist area. The existence of souvenir sellers and old bridge tours is also a special attraction.

There is Shifen Station which is the most popular stop on the Pingxi train line. There are also many local food stalls here. Souvenir shops, and old trains make it an interesting place for photography. If you have more time, you can take the train to visit several other stations along the Pingxi train line. You can also take a leisurely walk on the mountain slopes, enjoy culinary delights and take part in the lively annual festival. You will feel at home all day at Shifen.

How to get there:
You can reach Shifen Old Street easily from Taipei by train. It’s a 45-minute ride from Taipei to Ruifang, which is a transportation hub for the area. At Ruifang Station, you will arrive at Platform 1 or 2. Cross over to Platform 3 for catching the Pingxi train line, which will go south then west to Shifen (27 to 31 minutes).
