Notre-Dame
 6 Parvis Notre-Dame - Pl. Jean-Paul II, 75004 Paris, Prancis

Notre-Dame is located on the Île de la Cité, a small island in the Seine River in central Paris.
It is one of the most famous and iconic landmarks in Paris.

The cathedral is a prime example of French Gothic architecture, characterized by its flying buttresses, ribbed vaults, and rose windows. Construction of Notre-Dame began in 1163 and was completed in 1345. It has been a central site for major historical events, including Napoleon Bonaparte's coronation and the beatification of Joan of Arc.

The cathedral's west facade is renowned for its three massive portals, detailed sculptures, and the iconic rose windows. Notre-Dame is famous for its gargoyles and numerous statues, which were intended to both decorate the cathedral and serve as water spouts. The grand nave of Notre-Dame is impressive with its soaring columns and intricate stained glass windows. The interior includes several chapels, each with its own unique features and artworks. The cathedral features three stunning rose windows (north, south, and west) that are masterpieces of medieval stained glass.

Notre-Dame’s towers offer panoramic views of Paris. Visitors can climb the towers for a spectacular view of the city (note that the towers are currently closed to visitors due to restoration work following the 2019 fire). Following the devastating fire in April 2019, Notre-Dame has been under extensive restoration. The interior and towers are currently closed to the public, but the cathedral's facade and surrounding areas can still be admired.

Explore the surrounding area, which includes other historic sites like the Sainte-Chapelle and the Palais de Justice. Enjoy a stroll along the Seine River or consider a river cruise for a different perspective of the cathedral.

Pont Saint-Michel is a historic bridge in Paris, connecting the Île de la Cité to the Left Bank of the Seine River. It plays a crucial role in the city's layout and offers a picturesque view of Parisian landmarks. Here’s what you should know about Pont Saint-Michel: The bridge was first built in the 14th century. The current bridge is a reconstruction completed in the early 20th century, following several reconstructions due to damage over the centuries. The bridge features classical stone arches and is known for its elegant, simple design that blends seamlessly with its surroundings.

From the bridge, you can enjoy beautiful views of the Seine River and notable Parisian landmarks, including Notre-Dame Cathedral and the Palais de Justice. The bridge is a great vantage point for watching river cruises that navigate the Seine.

How to get there:
The closest metro stations are Cité (Line 4) and Saint-Michel (RER B and C). Both are within walking distance of the cathedral.
